Think of our student ministry as a
process instead of a program. The process takes time, patience, and an
environment that encourages students to grow deeper.
Below are current ways FCC makes this happen.
Wednesday Night Youth Groups (6:00-8:00pm)
Our large-group meeting is designed to
have a friendly, fun, challenging, and exciting atmosphere. Youth
meetings are filled with fun, music, teaching, and group discussion that
is designed to move students to grow deeper.
These meetings are held in
relationship with the schedule of West Central School Corp.
There are no youth meetings during school breaks, the day before a
break begins, or when school has been cancelled.
Sunday School (9:30 – 10:15 a.m.)
Sunday School is designed to share
Biblical knowledge with students. Studies will vary between a verse by
verse study of the Scriptures or a topical study on what the Bible
teaches. This teaching time is done before the worship gathering on
Sunday mornings.
Fun
Nights (once a month)
Fun Nights are designed to be light on the teaching and heavy on doing
fun thing as a Sr. High group. Activities vary from month to
month. We believe that as young people laugh together, they will
be more willing to grow deeper together.
5th
Quarters (dates & times vary) 5th Quarters
are held after all West Central home football games during the regular season.
FCC’s Fellowship Hall is used as a lounge and game room for students to play ping pong, fosse ball, air hockey, video games, cards,
board games, watch TV, or simply talk with their friends. This event
are limited to the 8th – 12th grades.
Weekend Retreats
We
take at least one weekend out of the year to attend a retreat. The Sr.
High attends the Indiana Christian Youth Convention (ICYC) and the Jr.
High attends CIY's Believe Jr. High Convention. These weekend
retreats are great for growing in faith and connecting with
youth Christians. Visit
www.ciy.com/believe/ or
www.icyc.org for more info.
Thirty Hour Famine (held
in Feb. or April) The
30hr Famine is a fundraising effort by youth groups across the
nation to raise money to feed hungry childrenall over the globe.
Students raise money from family and friends then attend a lock-in held
at the church. Students are encouraged to fast (not eat any thing)
for 30 hours and gain a new appreciation for being truly blessed. Visit
www.30hourfamine.org for more info.
Summer Events
Summers are about fun and unique
experiences. FCC Student Ministry offers both. These events include…
-
Vacation Bible School
– This program is for students in grades K-6. Many Jr. & Sr.
High students help. This is a great week of Bible teaching and
a ton of fun.
-
Mission
Trips – FCC is a big supporter of global missions.
We support ministries from all over the word. We also offer
short term mission trips. Previous mission trips include a
week of camp for Native American kids in Arizona and
Hurricane Katrina relief teams.
-
Camp
– Many students spend a week at Rainbow Christian camp in Converse,
IN. FCC believes that camp is very important
and is willing to pay 75% of the registration fee for any student
that desires to attend. Visit
www.rainbowcamp.org for more info.
-
CIY Summer
Conference – This event is packed with
engaging workshops, powerful preaching, and inspiring worship. FCC
believes that CIY is very important and is willing to pay 75% of the
registration fee for any student that desires to attend. Visit
www.ciy.com/summerconference for more
info.
-
Other
Great Stuff – Students
will have several opportunities to participate in other fun actives such
as putt-putt golf, cook outs, pool parties, Sr. High camp out, and
Jr. High Lock In. The activities vary from summer to summer.
Conclusion to Strategy
Strategies will change to meet the needs
of our youth. We may exchange an event with a new one but we will not change our desire to
see young students commit their lives to Jesus Christ and to His
Church. These events and activities help us accomplish this goal.
